The first meeting of the Oelwein Area Women’s Club 2007-2008 year was held Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at Neighborhood Perk. A wraps and salads dinner preceded a business meeting conducted by President Rachel Mortenson. There were 15 members present.

Andrea Dettweiler was the guest speaker for the evening. She is the Associate Director for OCAD. She discussed the structure and function of OCAD, as well as plans and ideas for the community. A lively discussion followed concerning downtown shopping.

Andrea said she will continue to send emails to OCAD members about news and events.

There was no old business to discuss.

Under new business: dues are now $15 to increase the scholarship funding.

Ruth Lau will need a list of paid members.

Paula R. mentioned she needs help at the Veterans’ Park. No formal date/time was set, but for members to stop by and pick up trash, pull weeds, etc. when they can.

Next meeting will be October 2 at the Neighborhood Perk again.
