Parks and Bike Trails


City Park

City Park stands at the southern edge of Oelwein in a wooded area that surrounds Lake Oelwein. It's a perfect setting for a picnic, volleyball, camping, hiking, or spending a quiet summer day reading a good book. The younger set is drawn to the playground equipment for fun-filled summer days.

Lake Oelwein

Lake Oelwein is a small, no-wake lake that provides a relaxed setting for camping , picnics, and hiking. If you like living outdoors in the summer, you'll find space in City Park on the shores of Lake Oelwein for your tent or camper. The park's roads take you from the entrance, around the park, across Lake Oelwein and into the camping area. The roads are also used for hiking by local fitness enthusiasts who enjoy a hike while enjoying a cool breeze from the lake.


Platt's Park

Green spaces for picnics and outdoor fun await in Platt's Park in SE Oelwein. Playground equipment, picnic tables, a bike trail, and an abundance of trees make this park a winner.

Wings Park

Located in the NE part of Oelwein adjacent to the swimming pool and miniature golf, this park also boasts three ball diamonds.
Reidy Park

Reidy Park is a small neighborhood park in the SE part of Oelwein. It's a popular place for a quick game of basketball or, for the younger set, swinging and climbing.

Levin Park
Bike Trail between Levin and Red Gate Parks

This part of the trail meanders through a woodsy area in nothwest Oelwein. Try it for a pleasant Sunday afternoon walk.
Red Gate Park

The west side of Oelwein is bordered by beautiful Red Gate Park. You'll find the typical playground equipment, basketball court, and a not-so--typical Bocce court, thanks to all the Italians living in the area. Ciao.

Veteran's Park
Bike Trail between Platt's Park and the Baseball/Softball Park

It takes about half an hour to walk from Platt's Park to the ball diamonds. Along way you can expect to see an oocasional deer and plenty of bunny rabbits.
